About Flaine
Flaine, a purpose-built resort at about 1600 m in a high, snow-sure bowl of Haute-Savoie, is the gateway to the Grand Massif - one of France's largest linked areas, with around 265 km of pistes shared with Les Carroz, Morillon, Samoëns and Sixt. Known for its Bauhaus-inspired modernist architecture and outdoor artworks, its north-facing bowl rises to the Grandes Platières at about 2500 m and holds reliable snow. Wide, sunny intermediate cruising, gentle beginner areas, the long Cascades run toward Sixt and good off-piste sit alongside ski schools, rentals, a snowpark and mountain restaurants in a compact, family-friendly village.
